The Salem Summer Sprint Triathlon will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 7:30am at the Salem Family Aquatic Center (1287 Gar ST, Salem, IL 62881). This is a sprint distance triathlon for Adults/Teams (400 yd swim; 13 mile bike; 3.1 mile run). The team category can consist of two or three athletes ages 15 or older completing one or two legs of the race. The youth race will be for kids ages 11-14 years old. The youth will complete all three legs individually. The distances are: 150 yd swim; 5.5 mile bike; 1 mile run. The children will complete all three legs individually. The distances are: 50 yd swim; 2.4 mile bike; .5 mile run.

All finishers will receive a medal. The top three men, women, and teams will receive trophies. The top three overall youth and child will receive trophies. This race is USAT sanctioned. You will need to be a USAT annual member, or purchase a one day membership.

Online registration is available at active.com until June 20, 2014. Adult: $60; Team: $110; Youth/Child: $30. A $10 late fee will be added after June 8 at 3pm. Registration and packet pickup is on Sat June 21 from 4-6pm and Sun June 22 from 6-7am at the Aquatic Center. There will be a race meeting on the pool deck at 7:15am Sun June 22.

This race is great for beginners and intermediate racers. The swim is a pool swim. The bike is flat and fast. There will be medals for all finishers. The adult races will have trophies for top three men and women. The teams will have trophies for top three places. The child and youth races will have trophies for top three places in each age group.

Weather contingency plan: If there is lighting or a significant amount of rain, the race will be delayed. If the weather does not clear up in a reasonable amount of time, the race will be canceled. There are no refunds for a canceled race due to weather.
